Saturday Reunions
Virtual Saturday Reunion: October 17, 2020
The day began with a keynote by Grace Lin, award winning author of Where the Mountain Meets the Moon and Big Mooncake for Little Star among others, and was followed by more than 150 workshops on a wide variety of topics from higher level comprehension, content area literacy, units of study in writing, assessment-based instruction, increasing student engagement, and own voices books for kids. Of course, this year’s reunion focused largely on the demands of teaching in remote, hybrid, and physically distant classrooms. The TCRWP staff developers shared their latest thinking about the best tech tools and platforms and adapting teaching and learning to the current challenges to keep workshop teaching and joyful and connected literacy alive for kids and families.
Lucy’s closing speech is below.
The commitment of the teachers who attended is an inspiration for us all. Thank you for showing up.
Mark your calendars for the next reunion on March 20, 2021!
